Been playing my guitar, singing the same old song
Been standing here, strumming and singing for so long.
There’s still a desire to be touched by love, there’s still faith
That you’ll hear me sing your song, that really isn’t that great.

But it’s a song so true, it’s a song I wrote, coz I do love you.
Will you ever know of it, will you ever know that it’s true?
Every one stops to listen, they sigh at the words, they tap their feet,
But I’m playing it for you, beneath the 10th lamp post on 7th street.

I saw you drive by, your windows were up, you were singing to the radio…
Roll down the window precious, and then you would know
that there is a guy who is singing a love song,
Playing a tune that wants to say sorry for all that went wrong.

When the song says I’m waiting for the touch,
You will hear my soul tell you, that I want to be with you so much.
and baby when I sing about how I’ve left my dreams behind,
I want you to know that your love is all that I ever hope to find.

When I confess that I do shed a tear before I sleep,
I want you to realize that I too weep.
For you to be with me, for you to take me into your world,
So that you can tell them my song is about you, coz you are my girl.

It’s been a long time now, and every one seems to have heard the song but you,
Your neighborhood passes by, some sing the words with me to your song too.
When will you stop by, to hear the only song that I play
Beneath the 10th lamp post, on 7th street every single day.

You will definitely hear me sing your song,
Love will overcome all, these words will reach the heart to which it belongs.

Note: I wrote this recently for someone very special. In some ways, it's about going about doing everything except walking up to the person in question and telling them about how you feel. I'm sure many of us have been there. There is a certain element of nervousness, anxiety and yet it seems like the entire world is just one amazing place, all because you seem to have fallen in love with that one person. So this peice is my way of serenading that pretty girl. So for all of you out there, take a moment, even if you are already married to the one you love, and go fall in love one more time with them. Get a little nervous just before you tell them you love them. Go make a complete fool of yourselves as you make your loved one blush as you see them falling in love with you ALL over again.
